Day 1
Arrival in Arusha – Welcome to Tanzania
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be met by our professional driver-guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. After check-in, enjoy a short briefing on your upcoming adventure. Depending on your arrival time, you may take a short city tour or relax at the lodge.
Day 2
Arusha – Mto wa Mbu Cultural Tour – Lake Natron
After breakfast, depart Arusha and head to Mto wa Mbu, a vibrant village nestled near Lake Manyara. Enjoy a guided cultural tour exploring banana plantations, local markets, and traditional homes. Learn about the more than 120 ethnic groups coexisting in this village. After lunch, continue the scenic drive through the Rift Valley escarpment toward the remote and mystical Lake Natron. Arrive in time to admire the lake’s crimson hues and thousands of flamingos.
Day 3
Lake Natron Exploration – Hike to Waterfalls – Flamingo Walk
Start your day with a sunrise walk to the shores of Lake Natron, guided by a local Maasai who will explain the ecosystem and flamingo breeding habits. After breakfast, enjoy a moderate hike to the beautiful Engaresero Waterfalls, where you can take a refreshing dip in the natural pools. The surrounding volcanic landscape is otherworldly and perfect for photography. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the camp or interacting with the local Maasai community.
Day 4
Lake Natron – Engaruka Ruins – Maasai Cultural Experience
Depart Lake Natron and drive to the historical Engaruka Ruins, an ancient Maasai agricultural village that dates back more than 500 years. Explore the mysterious stone irrigation systems and abandoned homesteads, accompanied by a local guide. Proceed to a nearby Maasai village for an immersive cultural experience. Participate in traditional dances, storytelling, and a visit to a boma (homestead).
Day 5
Return to Arusha – Departure
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Arusha. Enjoy views of Mount Meru and the expansive savannah en route. Upon arrival, transfer to the airport for your onward flight or overnight stay depending on your schedule.
